Payments

Direct bank transfer:(This is the preferred method of payment)

The fee for the lesson should be paid into Swish driving school bank account.  This should be in the account within 24 hours of you receiving provisional confirmation of your booking from your instructor, we suggest you make the payment as soon as you receive the provisional confirmation.  Once payment has been received your booking will be completed. If the fee is not received within 24 hours of provisional booking confirmation, your instructor is within his right to cancel your lesson without notice. Please text your instructor after the transfer to confirm the payment.

Please note we do not give credits. If you cannot make the payment for the lessons booked then cancel it at least 48 hours before the lesson.

Cash: At this present time due to covid-19 we do not accept cash payments.

Cancellation
To keep the cost of the driving school down, please try to give 48 hours notice for the following:-

  • Notice of cancellation or you may be charged.
  • Any changes to the lesson such as changing from 2 hours to 1 hour lesson or you may be charged for the full 2 hours that you have already booked.
  • Any changes to the pick up or drop off area.

Please note your instructor rarely may cancel your lesson.  Same thing is expected from all pupils, if lessons are being cancelled on a regular basis your instructor is within his rights to stop your lessons altogether.

Driving Test
Driving test should be booked by you after you have checked with your instructor.
Your instructor must be consulted before  changing the driving test date or time. Driving test bookings always take priority over other lessons. Therefore, your lesson may be postponed to allow for someone else's driving test and vice-versa. Changes to lesson bookings as a result of this will be notified immediately. I would ask to be notified immediately if a driving test has been booked as my future lessons have to be booked around it; If sufficient notice is not given the availability of a vehicle for the test can not be guaranteed.

I reserve the right to withhold the use of my car for the test if, in my opinion, your driving is actually or potentially dangerous.

The DVSA requires three clear working days notice of cancellation or postponement of your test. Failure to provide the required notice will result in the loss of your test fee.

On the day of your test you will have a warm up driving session before your test (this is normally 1 hour but you can book more than 1 hour) and use of the driving school car for your test and driving you back to your home (you will be charged 1 hour), this means you have to pay at least 2 lesson hours on the day. The driving test day fee payment must be made to your instructor no later than one week before the day of your test.

Please make sure you bring your provisional licence and your theory pass certificate with you on the day of your test.

Punctuality
Learners are advised to be punctual for lesson appointments. I would normally wait for a maximum of 15 minutes before the full lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee forfeited or become due for payment. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if I am delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this would be made up by me either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible or at a later date.

Learners Comfort and Safety
In the interests of comfort and safety, learners are advised to wear suitable footwear.
Legal drugs are prescription or over-the-counter medicines. If you’re taking them and not sure if you should drive, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or healthcare professional

Mechanical breakdown, etc

Your instructor car is maintained regularly.  When coming up to your test day, your instructor will check that all the fluids in the engine are topped up and check all the lights and tyres as well as anything which needs to be rectified is sorted out.  However, if there is any problems on the day of your test or the days coming up to your test which is beyond your instructor control and the garage cannot rectify it quick enough, your instructor will not take any responsibility for that.

In the event of mechanical breakdown of the instructor’s car or for any other reason that the instructor is unable to do your lesson or test (i.e. sudden illness, bad weather)  – rearrangement of the lesson or test will be necessary to an alternative suitable time for both you and your instructor.

Only once the pupil could not take their test and that was due to a tree falling onto  the dual carriageway in Brislington and thus we could not make it to the test centre ontime.
